 Jazzy has figured out that when the suitcases come out that we are going somewhere.  So she decided to see if getting in the suitcase would guarantee that she got to go. 

We're home

We got back from England last night and even though it was a good trip we are glad to be home.  Yesterday morning we got up at 4:30 and left Bristol at 6:00.  George was kind enough to drive us back to London to the airport and that gave us a couple hours to spend with him right before we left.  When we got to the airport we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we had been upgraded to Business class, we were praising God for such favor.  This made it a very pleasant trip back and we were both able to get several hours of sleep.  On the way home we were able to have dinner with Brenda, Rodney, and Aaron T. who are in the DC area for the KCM meeting this weekend.  Eddie and Yolanda got us home safely through all the fog.  Today we are unpacking and trying to get caught up on some things.  I dealt with some pain from a pinched nerve on and off during the trip so I have been to the Doctor today.  Just being home makes me feel better though it is true that "there's no place like home".

Do you speak English?

We have been amused that even though  most everyone here speaks English we cannot not always understand what they are saying.  I guess it is probably the same for them, they probably have difficulty with our accent at times.   When I went to order a sandwich the other day they ask me if I wanted spread on it.  I had to ask what is spread?  It turned out to be butter.  When we were helping with dinner the other night we enjoyed reading the back of the Hash brown package.  These were the instructions  "turning them every now and again until they're lovely, crisp and golden".  We enjoy learning some new English expressions.  We have also learned some of the culture and customs of the English people.  Everyone has been just lovely to us.

Sunday's service

Yesterday morning we attended a service at the church on the campus of Clifton College.  It was Remembrance Day here in England a day to remember and honor all those who have died in war serving England.  They told us that church attendance is usually high on this day and yesterday was no exception.  The Church was filled to standing room only.  During the service George's son and daughter sang in the choir and his son played a special piece on trumpet.  After the service there was a reception and a chance to tour some of the campus.  After all this we drove to a mall in Bristol and had lunch with Ron and Patty and George's family. It was a very nice day even though England was having one of their typical rainy, foggy days.
